Aichelin Americas Welcomes Colin McDonell as Mechanical Project Engineer
Aichelin Americas is pleased to welcome Colin McDonell to the team as a Mechanical Project Engineer, effective September 10, 2026.
Colin brings extensive experience in mechanical design, project management, and industrial engineering. Throughout his career, he has supported complex projects across manufacturing, process, and nuclear industry environments.
His technical background includes mechanical systems design, CAD modeling, equipment integration, project lifecycle management, and collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering teams. This combination of engineering knowledge and hands-on project experience will support Aichelin Americas as we continue developing and delivering reliable industrial equipment solutions for our customers.
Experience Across the Complete Project Lifecycle
Most recently, Colin served as a Senior Mechanical Designer with Sargent & Lundy. In this position, he provided technical expertise for the design and implementation of critical mechanical systems, managed project development activities, and supported equipment installations.
Earlier in his career, Colin worked as a Mechanical CAD Designer and Project Manager. He oversaw projects from initial concept through commissioning while developing customer engineering packages, process designs, and mechanical system layouts.
His experience across the complete project lifecycle—from early-stage design and planning through equipment installation and commissioning—will be a valuable addition to the Aichelin Americas engineering team.
Strong Technical and Design Capabilities
Colin holds an Associate Degree in Computer-Aided Design and Drafting: Mechanical from Schoolcraft Community College.
He is also proficient in several leading engineering and design platforms, including:
SolidWorks
AutoCAD
Navisworks
Revit
SmartPlant 3D
These capabilities, combined with his experience managing technically demanding projects, will help support effective collaboration across our engineering, manufacturing, and project teams.

As Mechanical Project Engineer, Colin will contribute to the planning, coordination, and execution of customer projects while helping ensure that equipment and mechanical systems meet the technical and operational requirements of each application.
His background in mechanical design, project execution, and equipment integration complements the experience already present throughout Aichelin Americas.
